Ideas For Pool Landscaping

If you have recently installed a new swimming pool or plan to do so, you will need some ideas for pool landscaping. Your swimming pool area needs to be safe, private and attractive. There are various ways to achieve this. For privacy, consider tall plants, trees or shrubs around the area. If you choose foliage that is tall and plant it thickly around the perimeter of your swimming pool it can serve as an effective privacy shield. Of course, another way to get the privacy you need is to install a fence made especially for this purpose.

Privacy fences are high enough to keep people from seeing over them, and the boards have no spaces in between them to prevent people from seeing through the fence. They are most often made from wood, composite wood or vinyl. The privacy fence is often preferable to the foliage shield because you can install locks on a privacy fence. This adds safety and prevents unauthorized access to the pool area. You definitely need a locked gate if you have children in the home. You may also want to install a pool safety alarm which sounds if the pool area is accessed when it shouldn't be.

A patio is important as well. A patio around your pool provides the perfect lounging area. It is important to make sure your pool patio is made from material that is not slippery. Wood, brick and concrete are popular materials. If you use wood for your pool area, make sure it is treated to protect against the high level of water exposure. You may want to add potted plants and trees to your patio area to make it more attractive. A patio table and chair set can also make a nice addition if you have the space.

If you plan to use your pool after dark, lights are an absolute must. There are all kinds of attractive lighting choices available these days. You may even want to use colored lights to add ambience to the swimming area. If you are concerned about conserving energy and want to do something environmentally friendly, try solar lights. As you can see, there are quite a few ideas for pool landscaping that you can incorporate into your own swimming pool area. When properly landscaped, a swimming pool area can be a safe, fun and beautiful place to spend hot summer days.
